ST. Louis – Yard Jockey

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for safely driving a spotter truck to move intermodal equipment to and from parking and/or staging areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely and repetitively enter/exit a standard spotter truck, without restrictions, throughout a scheduled shift.
• Safely maneuver a Spotter truck, with or without a 53 foot chassis/container, to designated parking/staging areas
• Ability to follow all rules and guidelines while driving within the Norfolk Southern Intermodal facility
• Technicians are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection, safety boots, safety glasses, protective hard hat & goggles, when applicable.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to pass all pre-employment screening requirements (drug screen, aptitude assessment, background check)
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Additional Physical Requirements:

• Required job duties are performed in an ambient outdoor environment (Rutherford location) which would include varying conditions (rain, snow, ice, heat, wind, cold, etc.)
• Physically active.

• The position may also be required to travel throughout the yard and the transfer station either by walking or driving.
• The noise level in the work environment is frequent.
• The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
